After the analysis finishes, you can click every word in the results. The app uses the context of the whole sentence to generate a dictionary-style definition. It explains only what the word means in this sentence instead of listing every sense.

Click an underlined word in the results. The details panel shows the following: Other actions in the panel:
  • Play pronunciation: Read the selected word aloud.
  • Refresh definition: Generate a new definition for the same word.
  • Show more / Show less: Expand or collapse longer explanations.
Definitions are written in your current interface language. If the text is longer than 1,000 characters, the app sends only the two sentences before and after the selected word as context, to keep requests short.

Multi-word selection

Some meanings only make sense when several words are taken together, such as the grammar pattern 「〜なければならない」 or a set expression. You can select several consecutive words and have the app explain them as a whole.
  • Hold down the mouse button and drag across several words.
  • Or click one word, then hold Shift and click another word to select every word in between.

Selection results

The app first determines what kind of span you selected, then explains it accordingly: Besides the definition and example, the selection result also shows a Breakdown. It explains which parts make up the span and what each part does. For example:

Merge split words

If the app determines that the selection is One word, the details panel says “These pieces are actually one word” and shows a Merge into one word button. Click it to merge those tokens into one in the current analysis results. The reading is updated as well.
Merging only affects the analysis results on the current page. If you analyze the same text again, the model segments it from scratch.
